At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next. The DVX Mobile Core team is responsible for developing and advancing the architecture of our member app for Android . We aim to leverage the systems and infrastructure that is broadly available at Netflix and figure out the best ways to adopt and apply it on Android. The Core team works with a wide range of engineering groups within the company to enable easier and more efficient patterns and canvases to be deployed to our members. Some of these changes are purely engineering-based, for example to improve key user metrics, while others serve to adopt cleaner development patterns for downstream product engineering. We are part of a global, diverse organization that includes people of all genders, sexual orientations, upbringings, nationalities, ages, and socioeconomic & educational backgrounds. We encourage engineers passionate about building well-structured mobile experiences to apply. What this role is: • You'll own major, multi-quarter initiatives that make other engineers faster and more confident. Today, that work falls into four themes: • Architecture. Product teams duplicate effort and step on each other. You'll help build coherent, reusable architecture, including server-driven UI, a data-centric approach to app development, modularization, and unidirectional state flow, so teams can move independently at scale. • Quality. Regressions are too easy to ship and too hard to see. You'll help make quality measurable through testing, trusted telemetry, and clear reliability standards in a high-commit-volume codebase. • Player. Product teams should spend their time on differentiated viewing experiences, not plumbing. You'll help deliver a reliable, extensible player framework they can build on. • Innovation. Engineering across Mobile can move faster. You'll turn emerging technologies, including AI, into practical tools that accelerate it. What you'll do: • Own outcomes end to end • Take ambiguous problems from idea to adoption: define scope, design the solution, document key trade-offs, deliver, and measure whether it worked. • Influence technical roadmaps and drive forward-looking technical solutions with minimal supervision. • Run projects like an owner: break work into milestones, surface risk early and manage cross-team dependencies. • Ship the pragmatic solution and change course when the evidence says so. • Build what others build on • Design and build UI infrastructure and architecture that make the right way the easy way. • Write the documentation and migration paths that let other teams adopt your work without you in the room. • Raise the quality bar with testable code, automated tests (JVM unit, Espresso, Paparazzi bitmap diffs), and telemetry that make regressions visible. • Elevate the people around you • Treat engineers as your customers. Understand their use cases, and let them shape the solution. • Mentor less-experienced engineers and help set the technical bar for the team. • Track emerging Android technologies, and turn the promising ones into real tools and modernized code. You're likely a fit if you have: • Owned something big. You've led a multi-month, cross-team technical initiative from ambiguity to adoption, and you can tell us how you scoped it, planned it, and measured its impact. • Driven your own agenda. You've spotted a problem nobody assigned you, built the case, and delivered the fix. • Run projects with discipline. You have a record of delivering in milestones, early risk communication, and delivering results. • Deep Android expertise. You're strong in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and you've applied architecture patterns (MVVM, unidirectional flow, modularization) in a large codebase. You can work in Java and GraphQL when needed. • Practical judgment. You weigh business, user, and architectural trade-offs, and you know when good enough is right. • Clear communication. You build trust across product, design, and engineering by being curious, direct, and selfless. • Bonus: server-driven UI, Circuit, Paparazzi, media playback or player frameworks, telemetry and reliability engineering, or AI-assisted development workflows. Why this role: • A rare moment. You'll help lay the mobile foundation for one of the world's most-used entertainment apps. • Leverage. One good framework multiplies the output of 100+ engineers and reaches hundreds of millions of members. • Real ownership. You'll get the business context you need and decide scope, design, and trade-offs. • Hard problems, good people. You'll work with talented peers across a wide range of devices and network conditions, in a culture of open communication where you value others' opinions to cover your blind spots. • A high-performance culture. If you've read about Netflix's culture and think you'd thrive in it, we'd like to talk.   Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses.
